well my halo 3 xbox 360 just got the rrod and i have tried fixing it multiple ways and am now deciding to buy a whole new xbox core (an xbox with no cables or hard drives, just the xbox itself). and am wondering if my normal xbox hdmi and power cable will work with the new elite xbox i am buying?

First of all, the 360 Core was a discontinued model replaced by the arcade. So you need to come up with a better term.
You say new xbox with no cables, hard drives or anything… I’m guessing you mean new to you and this is a used xbox because I don’t know of any way to buy just the console itself.
An HDMI cable is an HDMI cable. It doesn’t even need to be the Microsoft brand to work.
The power supply gets a little tricky. Newer xbox consoles use less power, and their power bricks don’t put out as much power. As a result newer consoles can run off the older more powerful power cables. But newer cables do not put out enough juice to power an older console.
